The gradient blue Magma collection in Limoges porcelain is hand-applied in the style of Jackson Pollock’s drip and splash. In this version, the pigments, scattered all over the surface of the roughened porcelain, are worked in a gradient. The result is astonishing! By fusing with the porcelain, the color crystallized and thickened, transforming itself into a non-homogeneous, mineral texture. Lunar landscapes emerge as the eye wanders through the stratifications. When fired, the color captured the glaze’s natural and exceptional qualities, notably its resistance and brilliant reflections. Firing also revealed an astonishing palette of blue, both dark, like the kiln blue so dear to Limoges porcelain, and iridescent when the piece catches the light.
